AutoCAD 2006 Software
Main Features of AutoCAD 2006 Software
Dynamic Blocks
Increase Efficiency by Decreasing Block Headaches
The more control you have over your blocks, the quicker and easier it is to get the job done. Dynamic blocks enable you to reduce the size of your block libraries while giving you more block options that are easier to access, manipulate, and place.
Manipulating Dynamic Blocks
The new grips and action features of dynamic blocks allow automatic scaling to the dimension scale set for the drawing. Assign actions to the block, such as flipping, rotating, or aligning with grips, which are easy to see and use. When you create blocks that you can place and manipulate correctly the first time, you’ll be more efficient every time.
Variations of Similar Blocks
In AutoCAD® multiple variations of similar blocks can be contained in a single block, so you can select the proper version on the fly as you see the block displayed in the drawing. With dynamic blocks, you can easily cycle through multiple variations on a single block. For example, a single fluorescent light fixture block can represent all the standard sizes stocked by your supplier. This capability reduces the size of block libraries, making them easier to manage and update. And when blocks are more manageable, productivity increases.
Creating Dynamic Blocks
The new dynamic block authoring environment provides an easy, graphical way of editing existing blocks. You don’t have to be a programmer to add parameters and actions based on the standards and conventions most appropriate to your company and work practices. Turning existing block libraries into dynamic blocks is straightforward, and you can do it at your own speed.
Creating Tables from Blocks
Using a new intuitive user interface, the Data Extraction wizard enables you to quickly and easily select only the block attributes you want to extract for display. So as designs change—as they invariably do—you can easily update your drawing with a single click. Information is kept current and complete with predetermined formatting for tables
Improved Annotation & Composition
Easier Annotation Makes It Harder to Make Mistakes
The creation, placement, and editing of annotation information can be time-consuming and error prone. And industry-specific hatch patterns, which often must be created and edited many times before drawings are complete, can be difficult to manage. With better text creation capabilities, enhanced table functions, and improved hatching, your drawings are clear, concise, and clean.
Better Mtext
Better than ever, the Mtext command in AutoCAD 2006 Software gives the text you create the exact appearance in the editor as when placed in the drawing. Positioning your text just where you want it on the drawing is easy. The new bullets and numbering capability enables you to quickly create bulleted or numbered lists in the format that conforms to your drawing standards. You spend less time adjusting text after placement and more time doing the work that you really want to do.
Enhanced Tables
Table capabilities include sums, averages, and counts across rows and columns, and standard arithmetic expressions based on cell values. Table calculations are automatically updated as your designs and documentation progress, so errors and frustration are both reduced.
Improved Hatching
The improved hatch feature in AutoCAD 2006 Software allows easy hatching of multiple areas with a single hatch command. Now you can add and remove hatch boundaries and adjust the origin of a hatch to improve its appearance in the drawing. Areas of single or multiple hatches are easily calculated, with the value displayed as a field on the drawing. When hatches are easier to create and easier to edit, it’s easier to get your job done
Enhanced User Interface
Stay Focused on Your Work with the Enhanced User Interface
Heads-up design means you stay focused on your work instead of the command line.
Dynamic Input
With AutoCAD 2006 Software, dimensions are dynamically displayed on geometry as you create or edit it. You no longer need to shift your focus back and forth between the command line and the graphics cursor (unless you want to). You can enter new values directly at the graphics cursor, with the revised values displayed instantly in the drawing geometry, giving you immediate feedback. Everyday drafting tasks are much more efficient, and basic tasks are easier to learn and perform, whether you’re a new or experienced designer.
Graphical Calculator
The all-new graphical user interface in AutoCAD 2006 Software allows access to a powerful in-product calculator for performing both basic and advanced mathematical calculations, units conversion, and distance and length calculations based on objects selected in a drawing. The calculator saves and restores constants for future calculations, has a memory function, and streamlines specific interactions with commonly used commands.
Migration Tools
Migration Tools Make It an Easy Trip
Losing customized menus and toolbars through migration is a thing of the past with AutoCAD® 2006 software. A new, automated method of reading in existing customized menus and toolbars ensures their transfer into AutoCAD. And that also means that moving to future releases of AutoCAD will be entirely automated, minimizing the need to “hand edit” files. AutoCAD 2006 ensures that the workspace you worked hard to get just right moves with you.
Same DWG Format
AutoCAD 2006 Software maintains the same DWG file format as AutoCAD® 2005 and AutoCAD® 2004, so there is no need to “save back” to an older file format. New entities introduced in AutoCAD 2006 look the same when opened in 2004 or 2005 and maintain their capabilities when opened again in 2008, provided they have not been edited in the older version. Nor has the programming interface for 2008 been altered, so custom and third-party applications that run on top of AutoCAD 2004 or 2005 work just fine with AutoCAD 2008.
